Nurturing the next migrant domestic worker peer leaders for the betterment of mental health
Hello friends!
Dreamcatcher CUHK is proud to announce the winner of our MDW (Migrant Domestic Worker) Recharge Hub Logo Competition. Chosen from loads of submissions, Maria Cristina T. Laureta (Facebook: Hailey Savannah Bringas) ’s design entry received the most votes and has been crowned the winner.
Our panel of judges, which included members of CUHK team members and representatives of MDW peer support groups (Domestic Workers Corner HONG KONG; Social Justice for Migrant Workers; Migrant Writers of Hong Kong and Self Love Cupid), chose the winning entry based on creativity, aesthetic presentation and meaning of the design.
The person at the centre upholding a sun catches our attention as it brings an impression of hope, growth and uprising. With the background of nature mixing trees sea and mountains, the design exemplifies a sense of tranquil peace and relaxation. And most importantly, we feel resonate with the painting and appreciate the designer’s genuine caring for the community. The colourful human figures holding hands demonstrate the unity of MDW while embracing the diversity in the community.
Judges’ comments
The design will be digitalised and fine-tuned to become the logo of MDW Recharge Hub, a website under construction for promoting MDWs’ wellbeing.
Congratulations again and we want to send a big thank you to everyone who participated in our competition and helped make it a success! Stay tuned to our website for more mental wellness resources!
*Special thanks to Knowledge Transfer Fund at CUHK who supported our project.
